The main purpose of the study tour was to learn the techniques for fattening pigs and sow management feeding. The most interesting technologies which attracted CEDAC to bring farmer leaders to this study is to learn to manage local feed resources because CEDAC is promoting organic pig production in their target communities. In addition, participants were also interested in the small scale aquaculture, installation and management of biodigesters and know-how to manage ecological farm.

9- August 2005: Study tour was organized for 21 participants from CCRD in Pursat at CelAgrid. The participants were community leaders in Pursat province and CCRD staff. The purpose of the study tour was to learn the integrated farming systems approach and the use of local feed resources for livestock feeding. CelAgrid has developed systems of which livestock is the epi-centre for farming systems. Bio-digester was also important part of recycling manure and waste. After visiting activities at the centre, a discussion was organized to get their feedback A case study either using land for water spinach production for animal feeding or rice production was put into the discussion allowed participants to pass the messages to farmers when they returned home. Using land to grow water spinach for pig feeding had as much as 10 times profitable as compare with rice production. This would mean the land close to the house is suitable for water spinach production as it is manageable and less work to cut and carry.

10- August 2005: Helen Keller International organized their staff and farmer leaders for the study tour at CelAgrid. The objective of the visit is to understand the role of integrated farming systems developed at CelAgrid and applied them in their target areas. There were 9 participants from different provinces included Kampong Speu and Koh Kong and others from Helen Keller International. Participants were expected that after their visit they can learn and apply them in the target provinces and passed this knowledge with other who did not have the chance for the visit. The feedback from participants was the development of extension messages from research activities and shared with development workers and NGOs. However there was a time constraint and budget allocation for the production of extension materials.
